Over the town of Servia, on a steep slope of Pieria, at an altitude of 1050m, lies picturesque Kastania, with its kind and hospitable residents.
Kastania is considered as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Municipality of Servia-Velvento, having a panoramic view of the Polyfytos Lake, as well as a marvelous mountainous beauty. Visitors can be informed about the area’s past, through histories that unfold in the rooms of renovated school. The notable folkloric Collection was created with initiative by the Educational Association of Kastania in 1999 and some of the items that were collected are the following: farming and agricultural tools, weaving items, local costumes, jewelry, old photographs and a variety of kastanian household items that disclose the land’s history throughout time.
