Aided by the Community Initiative LEADER+, the building facilities, where the Cultural Center is accommodated were improved and the necessary operation equipment was bought. The Center was founded in 1979. Customs as the “Raggatsaria” and the burning of cedars during the carnival are brought back to life, with the help of the Cultural Center. The Center serves out the traditional “fasolada” (bean soup) and hosts the “Antamoma of Elatioton” (Elatians meeting) in the first ten days of August. This meeting is considered the most important event of the village.
The support of the Center’s members, as well as the support of the Elati residents, contributed to the collection of small objects, such as: tools, costumes, small furniture etc that help the visitor “travel” in the old days, in order for the old ones to remember and the young ones to learn.
Besides the permanent folkloric exposition, the Center hosts also a library, as well as the Center’s offices.
