The E4 European long distance path or E4 path is one of the European long-distance paths starting in Spain at its westernmost point and leading through France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria to end in Greece. It visits the Greek island of Crete as well as Cyprus. Its length is more than 10,000 km, but the route through Romania and part of Bulgaria is not yet completely defined.
The Greek section of the E4, crosses the northern and central Greece , the Peloponnese , concludes Githeio and continues on the island of Crete. It thus enables the hikers to experience all the variety of the Greek landscape and the richness of Greek nature. The highest elevation on the entire route is the top of Olympus Skolio ( 2,911 m). Ideal for hiking The E4 Greece is from 15 May to early October. The climate is Mediterranean , with warm dry summers and considerable temperature difference in day and night. The period can encounter snow along the route is from November to June.
From the area of the municipality of Servia - Velvento passes the European path E4 crossing the Pieria
Mountains and despatched to Mount Olympus.
The E4 passes through the village shelters and reaches the mountain retreat of ATT Kozani. From there it
goes to Source Avdela and despatched in the prefecture , Katerini.
