The Agios Dionisios en Olympo church (three aisled basilica, stone built with a wooden roof) is one of the two parish churches of Velvento. The parish of Velvento operates regularly and develops many activities in all aspects of the village’s social life, while it preserves reverence and respect bonds with the church of Agios Dionisios. In June 1995, for the first time the relics of Saint Dionisios were brought to Velvento and in August of 1996, the Hegumen of the church, Archimandrite Maximos brought to Velvento the relics of the Saint, in the presence of the authorities and the people, in order to bless and hallow the area.
